Use what God says when you talk with him. Here’s how I pray for godly people who long to get married:
Lord, marriage shows your love for the church (Ephesians 5:25). Would you let her marry to show the world today your love?
You tell us do not withhold good from those who deserve it (Proverbs 3:27). Giving what is good matters to you. Would you make her the kind of person who deserves a good marriage? And then, would you give her one?
You also say two are better than one (Ecclesiates 4:9). That makes me think you would like to give her a spouse, because two are better than one and better is good. Would you, please?
Because the midwives feared God, you gave them families of their own (Exodus 1:21). She fears you. Would you give her a family?
You seek godly offspring (Malachi 2:15). Godly marriage often produces godly offspring. She is godly. Will you let her marry?
You satisfy and fulfill the desires of those who fear you (Psalm 145:19). Help her fear you, more and more each day. Please fulfill her desire for marriage.
For a woman: You say a prudent wife is from the Lord (Proverbs 19:14). Make her careful and forward thinking (that’s what prudent means) so that you can give her to a godly man.
For a man: You say the wife must respect her husband (Ephesians 5:33). Make him a man who is worthy of respect.
You stir up lovers against people (Ezekiel 23:22). Would you stir up a lover for her?
You settle the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children (Psalm 113:9). Marriage and family are your doing. Please do this for her.
Pray with hope, believing there will be sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom . . . the voices of those who bring thank offerings, saying, “Give thanks to the Lord Almighty, for the Lord is good. His love endures forever (Jeremiah 33:11).
