Proactive Protective Prayer

My morning prayer time includes praying a verse over each of my children. I pray this for my youngest son-in-law: For you bless the righteous, O Lord, you cover him with favor as with a shield (Psalm 5:13).

A few weeks ago this beloved son of ours went on a motorcycle ride. When he left, his wife prayed for his protection.

He had an accident, but no bones were broken, and his head is fine. The road rash that covered his arms and legs is healing nicely. That and a ruined bike, although painful, seem minor compared to what could have been.

What might have happened if we didn’t pray?
