The king’s answer meant life or death so Esther didn’t charge into his presence with her request. Instead, she approached Ahasuerus wearing royal robes, undergirded by the fasting prayers of her people, and invited him to a banquet. After two nights of feasting the king asked Esther what she wanted. She said, “If it please the king, let my life be granted” (from Esther 5-7).
Esther’s example shows how to make requests of God, our King. We can . . .
~Fast with others (see Acts 13:3)
~Be patient (Romans 12:12)
~Remember we are clothed in garments of salvation, covered with robes of righteousness (see Isaiah 61:10)
~Feast on His Word (see Song of Solomon 2:4)
~Consider if our request pleases Him (see 1 John 5:14)
